Character development
The first pirate Luffy ever decked — and she never forgave him for it. Her obsession is consistency itself: her record, her reflection, and her revenge, in that order.

The casting story
Paulino was announced with the 2021 main cast, and the show gave her the first scene of the series: the captain Luffy decks before the story properly begins. She returned for Season 2's Loguetown ambush, hunting the boy who ruined her hat — and her record.
Why this casting works
Ilia Isorelýs Paulino (Family Switch, Me Time) plays Alvida as a captain, not a joke — Season 1’s opening villain, Season 2’s Loguetown ambush.
The fan corner
Fans approved the live-action's take immediately: Alvida played as a real captain with an ego, not a punchline. Her Season 2 return alongside Buggy's crew delighted the corner of the fandom that treats the Buggy-Alvida alliance as one of the story's great comedic partnerships.
