Travel Tips to Japan 2026 with Anny

Anny is a One Piece fan we invited to share her trip to Japan. She walked the Jump Shops, Akihabara, USJ, and the Kumamoto statues so other fans can copy the map. Buy tickets from official windows.

7 days is the core: Tokyo merch → Osaka USJ → Kumamoto statues.14 days adds Kyoto, more statues, and Fukuoka.

Anny at Tokyo Station with shopping bags

Day 1 — JUMP SHOP Tokyo Station

Land Narita (NRT) or Haneda (HND). Drop bags near Tokyo Station. Walk First Avenue Tokyo Station / Character Street to JUMP SHOP Tokyo Station (1-9-1 Marunouchi, Chiyoda). Official Jump merch — One Piece, Jump, no scalpers. Eat in the station, sleep in Marunouchi or Akihabara for tomorrow.

“I landed tired and still went straight downstairs. Character Street is a fluorescent tunnel of Jump — a whole wall of Luffy. Staff were kind. I bought one figure and left before I bought ten. Eat in the station; I was too tired to go anywhere else.”Anny — Day 1, Tokyo Station

Anny in Akihabara Electric Town

Day 2 — Akihabara Electric Town

Akihabara: Radio Kaikan, Animate Akihabara, Mandarake Complex. Figures, cards, used Jump. This is the otaku main street, not a Jump Shop — still where fans actually spend yen.

“Akiba hits you in the ears first — pachinko, speakers, a guy shouting sale prices. I spent two hours in Mandarake flipping old Jump. A kid in a Chopper hat asked if my straw hat was real. I said it was a cheap one with a red band. He nodded like that was the correct answer.”Anny — Day 2, Akihabara

Day 2 evening — Akiba cosplay meet

Same neighborhood after dark. Weekend evenings, Japanese cosplayers gather around the station and Radio Kaikan. Ask before photos. Stay on public streets — that’s the scene in this shot.

“After dark the street filled with Japanese cosplayers — Zoro, two Namis, a very committed Brook. I asked in terrible Japanese if I could stand with them. They laughed and pulled me in. Nobody was mean.”Anny — Day 2 evening, Akihabara Station

Anny at Toei Animation Museum in Nerima

Day 3 — Toei Animation Museum, Nerima

Toei Animation Museum (2-10-5 Higashi-Oizumi, Nerima). Toei made the One Piece TV anime. Small museum, real studio neighborhood, book timed entry on Toei’s site. Seibu Ikebukuro line to Oizumi-gakuen. This photo is that garden path. Afternoon: JUMP SHOP Shibuya PARCO 6Fif you skipped it, then Shinkansen toward Osaka.

“Nerima is quiet after Akiba. The museum is small — cels, a garden, a studio neighborhood. Then PARCO for Jump Shop: sixth floor, air-con, a line, worth it.”Anny — Day 3, Nerima & Shibuya

Anny at Universal Studios Japan

Day 4 — Universal Studios Japan (Premier Summer)

USJ, 2-1-33 Sakurajima, Konohana-ku, Osaka. One Piece Premier Summer runs through19 Nov 2026. Studio pass + official show ticket fromusj.co.jp. Premier Show ~18:45. Check that day’s costume policy if you want to stand with Japanese cosplayers in the One Piece area. This photo is the park.

“Buy the show ticket with the park pass. Premier Show is loud — stunts, fire, a Luffy who is not Iñaki. The park is huge; I wasted an hour in line for merch I could have skipped. Sit for the 18:45 show. Eat before. I didn’t, and I regretted it.”Anny — Day 4, USJ

Anny walking Dotonbori in Osaka

Day 5 — Dotonbori + JUMP SHOP Osaka

Morning: JUMP SHOP Osaka in LUCUA Osaka (Umeda). Night: Dotonboricanal (1 Dotonbori, Chuo-ku). Takoyaki, neon, photos. Den Den Town (Nipponbashi) if you want a second Akihabara.

“LUCUA in the morning is calm. Dotonbori at night is not. Neon, smoke, takoyaki that burned my mouth. Osaka is louder than Tokyo. I liked that after the park.”Anny — Day 5, Dotonbori

Anny at Kumamoto Castle

Days 6–7 — Kumamoto Castle + Luffy statue

Shinkansen via Hakata to Kumamoto. This photo is Kumamoto Castle (1-1 Honmaru). After the castle, go to the Luffy bronze at Kumamoto Prefectural Government Office (6-18-1 Suizenji, Chuo-ku) — part of Oda/Kumamoto’s recovery statue project. Chopper’s statue is also in the city; Zoro is in Ōzu Central Park if you have a car.

“The castle is the picture. The Luffy statue at the prefectural office is the reason I came — bronze, quiet, people taking turns. A woman told me in English that Oda is from here. I already knew. I still said thank you.”Anny — Days 6–7, Kumamoto

Anny walking the Fushimi Inari torii path

Days 8–10 (14-day) — Fushimi Inari, Kyoto

Not a franchise set — a rest day. Fushimi Inari Taisha (68 Fukakusa Yabunouchicho). This photo is the torii climb. Then Gion at night. Sleep Kyoto or back to Osaka.

“No Straw Hats on the mountain. Just red gates. I needed a day that wasn’t merch. Gion after dark was busy with tourists. I ate tofu and went to bed before eleven. Best sleep of the trip.”Anny — Days 8–10, Kyoto

Anny shopping at Canal City Hakata, Fukuoka

Days 11–12 (14-day) — JUMP SHOP Fukuoka

JUMP SHOP Fukuoka inside Canal City Hakata (1-2-1 Sumiyoshi, Hakata-ku). This photo is that mall. Easy from Kumamoto. Ramen, canal, slower Kyushu.

“Canal City is air-con and a fake canal and I did not care. Jump Shop Fukuoka had a Sanji pin Tokyo was sold out of. I ate tonkotsu so rich I had to sit down. Kyushu is slower. I would have stayed another night if the flight hadn’t been booked.”Anny — Days 11–12, Fukuoka

14-day statue extras (rent a car)

The recovery project placed ten Straw Hats across Kumamoto. City day covers Luffy + Chopper. With a car:

  • Zoro — Ōzu Central Park
  • Nami — Nishihara (Moe no Sato / orange trees)
  • Usopp — Aso Station
  • Sanji — Mashiki (Minaterrace)
  • Franky — Takamori Station
  • Robin — Hitoyoshi
“I only made Luffy, Chopper, and Zoro. The Aso loop wants a car and a full day. Next time I’ll rent one and do Nami’s oranges. Don’t squeeze ten statues into a jet-lag morning.”Anny — on the rest of the statue trail

Days 13–14: buffer, Den Den Town if you skipped it, Shinkansen to Tokyo, fly. Do not stack USJ and an international flight on the same calendar day.
